Lästips: Prospect magazine. Köpes lämpligen på brittiska flygplatser.

I senaste numret: James Harkin gör en genomgång av 2008 års stora idéer bland non-fiction böcker:

if Gladwell was this year’s icon and Nudge its most successfulbook, “mass collaboration” was certainly the buzz idea.

Mass collaboration alltså. Exempel på böcker som nämns:

Clay Shirky: "Here Comes Everybody" an exposé of how internet-based collaboration changes everythingfrom encyclopedias to campaigns against paedophilic priests skriver Harkin. Vidare:

Jeff Howe: "Crowdsourcing". Smart namn - men mer än inspirerad av Surowieckis Wisdom of Crowds.

Klimatfrågan nämns också:

Greenness was big too, especially with Thomas Friedman’s "Hot,Flat and Crowded", a more urgent book than its wildly successfulpredecessor. It argues that environmental fatalism sets back the causeof planet-saving, while muscular enviro-capitalism can rebootAmerica’s economy.

och tack vare finanskrisen falnade freakonomics-trenden en smula:

The trend for Freakonomics-influenced pop economics tracts finally tanked, only to be replaced by those about economics proper. The credit crunch favoured farsighted number crunchers, prime amongthem Yale’s Robert Shiller, whose "The Subprime Solution" cameclose to predicting the financial crisis.
