Noterar att pappret som jag bloggade om i wp-version för ungefär ett år sedan nu kommit ut i mars-numret av European Journal of Political Economy. Ur abstract:
We examine the empirical relationship between the institutions of economic freedom and labor shares in a panel of up to 93 countries covering 1970 through 2009. We find that a standard deviation increase in the Fraser Institute's Economic Freedom of the World (EFW) score is associated with about a 1/3 standard deviation increase in a country's labor share.
Jämfört med wp-versionen tycks de lägga mindre vikt vid kausalitets-diskussionen i den publicerade versionen. Det verkar klokt, av två skäl:
a) IV-strategin skulle ändå inte ha övertygat någon skeptiker, och
b) associationen är intressant nog i sig själv.
Båda skäl gäller f ö betydligt fler papper än detta.
