Andreas Bergh is associate professor in Economics at Lund university and fellow at the Research Institute of Industrial Economics in Stockholm.

His research concerns the welfare state, institutions, development, globalization, trust and social norms.

He has published in journals such as European Economic Review, World Development, European Sociological Review and Public Choice. He is the author of 'Sweden and the revival of the capitalist welfare state" (Edward Elgar, 2014).

Arv eller miljö?

Greg Mankiw tipsar om ett intressant papper av bl a Anders Björklund. De har data om utbildning hos adopterades biologiska föräldrar, deras fosterföräldrar och barnens inkomst och utbildning. Och till ingens egentliga förvåning (eller?) skriver de (sid. 12):

the coefficient estimates for biological parents are substantial even for biological parents who are partly or completely absent from the post-birth environment.

Miljö spelar också roll:

coefficient estimates for non-biological rearing parents are almost always positive and usually statistically significant

Mankiw menar dessutom att den biologiska effekten är större än den sociala, men jag tycker inte den slutsatsen har särskilt övertygande stöd i pappret. Se även hans diskussionstråd.
