Andreas Bergh is associate professor in Economics at Lund university and fellow at the Research Institute of Industrial Economics in Stockholm.

His research concerns the welfare state, institutions, development, globalization, trust and social norms.

He has published in journals such as European Economic Review, World Development, European Sociological Review and Public Choice. He is the author of 'Sweden and the revival of the capitalist welfare state" (Edward Elgar, 2014).

Läsvärt av Nathalie Besèr på DN om Obama, new deal och big deal

Med tanke på tidigare gnäll om journalister som slänger ur sig miljardbelopp utan att sätta dem i relation till något annat: Nathalie Besér på DN gör inte det misstaget när hon skriver om Roosevelts New Deal jämfört med Obamas Big deal.

Notabelt:
  • Senaste prognosen för USA budgetunderskott: 12,3 procent av BNP. Det här börjar bli spännande!
  • FDR's New Deal 1933-1938 var faktiskt inte så enormt expansiv: 10 procent av BNP totalt, utslaget på fem år. (Detta har redan påpekats lite här och var bland amerikanska ekonomibloggar)
  • Med miniräknare kan man vidare räkna ut att Obamas paket på 787 miljarder dollar är 5,5 procent av BNP. Bara under 2009.
