Andreas Bergh is associate professor in Economics at Lund university and fellow at the Research Institute of Industrial Economics in Stockholm.

His research concerns the welfare state, institutions, development, globalization, trust and social norms.

He has published in journals such as European Economic Review, World Development, European Sociological Review and Public Choice. He is the author of 'Sweden and the revival of the capitalist welfare state" (Edward Elgar, 2014).

Priserna började falla i oktober förra året.

Vad betyder det när Riksbanken säger att "Inflationen har sjunkit från 4,0 procent i oktober [2008] till 0,9 procent i december"?

Jo, det betyder att KPI i oktober 2008 var 4 procent högre än i oktober 2007 (och motsvarande för december). Vid närmare granskning visar det sig att priserna började falla under oktober 2008.

Det är lätt att hålla med slopedcurve-skribenten: Riksbankens uttryckssätt ger knappast allmänheten en korrekt förståelse av hur priserna utvecklas.
