Därför vill economic man inte fråga om vägen

Den neoklassiska ekonomins antagande om en egoistiskt rationell individ har kritiserats av bland andra Amartya Sen. Ofta är kritiken både rolig och berättigad - men inte alltid. På wikipedia läser vi exempelvis följande:

Lustigt - men inkorrekt, vilket inses med backwards induction. Eftersom local vet att stranger kommer att öppna brevet, är det irrationellt att lämna över det. Och eftersom stranger vet att local inte har något skäl att hjälpa till med vägbeskrivningen, kommer han inte ens att fråga.

Prediktionen från neoklassisk teori i exemplet är således inte att folk ljuger och stjäl, utan att folk letar på egen hand utan att fråga om vägen.

Inte helt olikt hur folk faktiskt beter sig.

Roligt inlagg!

En oerhort stor del av kritiken riktad mot economic man bygger pa halmgubbar. Men jag trodde faktiskt Sen stod over den typen av missforstand.

I Sverige. Typ ingen annanstans avstår folk från att fråga om vägen. Vad jag vet iaf.
